The Threshold Project

It has been 5 years since I made a project.

Of course, I am always project-ing: it’s how I think, organize, learn. At work, especially. In book-making, education, fitness. Ask me at random; I’m sure I have several endeavors framed as a project.

But here I mean a loose art-shaped container for experiment and play. My last was the Memory Book Project. This is the Threshold Project.

It’s shorter than my previous (often year-long) explorations, and it’s less defined. The rules are: A triptych weekly, from Lughnasa to the Equinox—the height of summer.

A triptych of what, exactly, is for the moments to unfold. As is any meaning that may emerge. I have sketched only enough lines to offer the necessary container to creative process. (Even a coloring outside the lines requires lines.)

The name of the project reflects what I am marking by it. Also something I hope I might construct.

I am making a threshold (possibly) from pauses, offerings, fragments—picked up and pocketed, or patterned, or discarded with thanks. I know what I am doing, and I am also not sure what I am doing. Possibly a point of this project is to live in that.

I give my attention, and hope to find out.
