Sure, it looks like I’m burying the lede here, but look at these colors—!

This is my view right now. What’s on my mind is Serpentine, and what’s on my mind is this season: midsummer, its luminous blue-and-green-and-gold, the color and light-slant of home for me in a very particular way.
The best I can do at illuminating that very particular way is, in fact, Serpentine, who (here’s the lede!) will be born into the world-at-large this coming Wednesday, June the 28th, at 10am Pacific Time.*
She (yes, this one has a gender) begins (publicly) on Kickstarter, in which virtual location she has two weeks to reach her funding goal. If you are so inclined, “pre-ordering” her at the link above is the best way to support my words, Lucy Bellwood’s paintings, Bored Wolves’ careful shepherding, and independent publishing in general.**
(This is how we made Tell the Turning: a rewarding experience for us, and for the many readers who continue to reach out and tell us they love that book. I lack words ((!)) to describe what it feels like every time someone does that. This is what art is for.)
I’ll update this proseletter when Serpentine is live. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with one of Lucy’s watercolor paintings, which feel to me so familiar and so astonishing at once:

*Pacific Time. A quotidian phrase, and such a sweet one. May I always live in/on Pacific Time.
**She’s gorgeous and she’s a painstakingly high-quality book, and also she’s not expensive. This is part of Bored Wolves’ work in the world: art should be as accessible as we can make it.
Yippee!!! On calendar 👏😍💙💚
